PBS TV interviewer Tavis Smiley talked with Robert Lacey, author of “Inside the Kingdom: Kings, Clerics, Modernists, Terrorists and the Struggle for Saudi Arabia” on January 21, 2010. The Web site for the show includes a video of the (11:28) interview with Lacey in which he talked about U.S.-Saudi relations and terrorism. The web site offers a brief description of Lacey’s writing credentials:
British historian Robert Lacey is the author of 20 books, including The New York Times best seller The Kingdom, required reading for businessmen and diplomats all over the world. His newest book—the sequel Inside the Kingdom, which he researched for the past three years in Jeddah and Riyadh—is a modern history of the Saudis, in their own words. Lacey started his career with the Illustrated London News and The Sunday Times. He’s also written biographies of Queen Elizabeth II, gangster Meyer Lansky and Princess Grace of Monaco.
